When I got to his room this morning, I thought to myself, oh good, they put in the feeding peg in his stomach already'. I commented on how good it was to see Paul's whole face. The nurse said that Paul finally managed to pull out the tube that feeds him and that he was not a happy camper this morning. He had to receive some medicine to sedate him. So when Paul woke up, my first quetion was "I guess you are hungry about now, right?"
He did not do well with the therapists today, as he was still a bit groggy and he really does seem to be wandering mentally. This will be a down day for him since they are just now doing the feeding tube in the stomach, which will require more sedation. We should hear today about when he will have the plastic surgery. I asked the occupational therapist how long after that surgery would the regular therapy start and she said only a couple days. I was wondering how long it will set us back with progress. Yes, God answered my prayers about learning to be patient, and more prayerful in my life, and more giving. And amazingly I have been able to happily say Thanks be to God. Jon and I both are so thankful that God has brought us a greater awareness of his tremendous love for all of us. Each one of you have played a very important part in our ability to keep saying YES LORD and not be wrenched in fear. There is no humanly way possible that we have been able to keep rejoicing in all His wonderous deeds. It is a direct gift of the prayers being offered for our family. We have asked God to bless each of you with great graces, so that we, as your brother and sister in Christ can lift you up also in all your needs.
Please pray for Paul's upcoming plastic surgery. May God lead the hands of the surgeon and the nurses. Praise be God for them all.
Love,
Rebecca Fidero

Dear Paul,
Our love for you and for your family is unceasing, the same as we have for Our Lord. Each action and reaction that you have to what the therapists are doing to you is a sign that you are healing in your own way with the help of God. Each motion you make, each sound that you make, each step that you take will show us that you and your families dedicated faith and continuous prayer was the healing source. As you continue this healing process, I pray that those touched by this will remember that only by God's mercy will we be allowed to share His Heavenly Kingdom. Please continue the good fight, we will walk every step with you,
Love
Uncle Joe
Dear Paul,
We can not express our joy that we feel each day as we read the latest updates or when we talk to your family for the great news they continue to share with everyone. We know that right now you don’t understand what or why this is happening to you. But soon, you will. You will be well enough to read this web site yourself and see how this whole incident has brought so many people to Christ. God has used you and your family to show so many people from all over this world what “True Faith” is.
Watching you and your family go through all these struggles has only proven to so many people that God is the ultimate physician. He is the only one with the power to heal. He is the one leading the doctors in your care. Maybe this is what they mean by “Practice” when they refer to doctors.
You are on the top of the pray list at our church. In the last twenty four hours, three of our top pastors have called us to see how you are doing and to pray with us. So many of our friends and family contact us regularly to check up on you. Everyone is so excited that we continue to give them good news. They all continue to pray along with us for your full recovery.
The road ahead of you is a long and tough one. With God by your side, guiding you every step of the way, you will pull through this. You also have your parents and brothers right next to you. They will be your strength when you need it.
1 Peter 5:7 reads: “Unload all your worries on Him since He is looking after you.”
We love you very much. Keep up the fight. We continue to pray for you all.
Love, Uncle Rick, Aunt Debi, Stephanie and Kelly
Pablo,
Let's pause for review.
1. You were resuscitated 2 times on the way to the hospital after your accident. You continuied to live.
2. The emergency room physicians at Gwinett did not you give much of a chance for survival - leading your parent to call for a priest to administer Last Rites. You survived the night.
3. On Monday after the accident, you developed a blood clot at the base of your brain, once again leading the physicians to prepare your parents for an inevitable outcome - once again leading your parents to call for a priest to administer Last Rites. The next morning, physicians found that veins surrounding the clot had rerouted the blood flow, thus eliminating the danger of the clot - you survived the night.
4. You developed pnuemonia - quite possibly fatal for patients in your unresponsive state - leading physicians to tell your parents to be prepared for the worst. You fought off the infection, even with a collapsed lung. You again survived.
5. You reamined in a coma for 13 days - leading the physicians to prepare your parents for the inevitable worst outcome. One night later, you demonstrated a slight response to your music and your families voices - the next morning you woke up and you've been honked off ever since. At this point you may wish to cut your parents some slack:))
Through this entire ordeal several consistent themes have played out:
1. Your life has been in constant peril.
2. At each new development, highly trained physicians have offered little or no hope for your survival and repeatedly told your parents to expect the worst.
3. You survived every threat to your life.
4. Your parents NEVER wavered in their belief in God's love and their acceptance of His will. Certainly they had moments of unspeakable sorrow and grief, but their love of God and belief/acceptance of His mercy was constant.
5. Family, friends and strangers around the world, of many faiths, prayed for you daily.
So, knowing all this - see a pattern? I see supporters with the strength of your families faith, those with strong but faltering faith, those struggling to build any kind of faith, now united in one common belief. God has heard and answered our prayers. It will be interseting (but most importantly - it will be joyful) to see just exactly how He has answered those prayers. I believe the truth will play out over many decades as your life unfolds.
It will be equally interesting to view how all of us choose to allow this miracle to affect us and influence how we affect those around us.
Enough of me - remember we will love you forever and Abby dog is saving a rock for you. You may also be interested to know the Griffin has inherited the middle European sap gene from his dad and Grandpa Brown as he cried almost uncontrollably at the joyful news of your awakening. Pass the tissue.

Dear Atlanta Fideros,
It's Pete and Julie Relph here from California and friends of Rick and Deb. We are so pleased to see Pauls progress. We can tell that the doctors and nurses are well versed in their profession and are doing their very best for him. Paul seems to be a very strong and fiesty young man.
We will keep our positive thoughts going!
Take care.
