Fighting the good fight...

Here is another picture of Paul's car. It is a miracle he is alive.

Today Paul was able to have an MRI taken of his neck. He was not strong enough yesterday, probably due to his fever which came and went. His breathing was much more laborous, it looked as though he was struggling. But we expect that he will calm down after some rest. The MRI test is grueling and takes a lot out of him. We are waiting for the doctors to put a trach in Paul's throat so we can get him off the ventilator. He cannot breathe on his own yet, but his lungs have not worsened in their condition so we have no reason to think he might not be able to breathe on his own one day soon. We spoke with Fr. Jack Durkin, a dear priest friend about Catholic teaching on end-of-life issues. While the trach is an extra-ordinary means of sustaining Paul's life, we will continue to fight as long as Paul is fighting, and we will do whatever we can to help him to fight as well. In other words, we are not giving up on him, despite the "expert" advice of the doctors.

Paul Fidero... When I hear this name I always think of that amazing guitarist that I had the chance to meet and talk with from PHS and GSU. I still look up to him as the greatest guitarist I have ever met. He and his family will be in my prayers.
your friend, JD

Hope the Fidero Family visit by Paul's friends at DTSi went well. The guys called me to let me know their impressions and feelings when they left. Wilbur, Joye, Lisa, and Jon (my Son) all called me within minutes of each other. The feeling being around the family was one of hope and small miracles for Paul's recovery and all were thankful to visit them at the hospital. I sat down and e-mailed to our clients around the State of the situation and have asked them to pray for Paul and the family continually. Many others are praying with us for you guys here in Seneca, SC. I certainly look forward to seeing that big smile greet me when I come to the office. So Paul, keep getting closer to beaming that smile our way soon.

The Cunneen family (including Betsy in France) has been praying continuously for Paul and all of the Fideros since his accident. We just wanted you to know that we leave for Rome today for Thanksgiving week. We will continue to pray during our journey, but we will stop to say a special prayer as we visit the tomb of JPII. We have high expectations that there will be some awesome news when we get back next weekend.

Dear Fidero family,
We are a Blessed family. We believe in Miracles and we are receiving them daily. We ask for Healing and we are receiving them daily. We ask for answers from God and we are getting them. We ask for God's will be done and IT will be done. the miracles are evident that Families are praying together for Paul and each other, churches are gathering in prayer for Paul, Universities are passing the word and Faculty and students alike are praying for Paul.
We ask for healing. But healing comes in many forms of physical, emotional, and Spiritual. All who have been touched by Paul have been healed in some way because they have been touched by the Spirit that Paul had displayed because he has the Spirit of God with him at his side. The power of all the prayers said on Pauls behalf are being heard by God and Miracles and healings are being done as we speak.
Paul, I love you and admire you for your conviction and strength in your Faith. My prayers are with you.
Love , Uncle Joe
